Advancing Pedagogical Science: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Learning Analytics

The Opportunity: The IEF Postdoctoral Fellowship offers an unparalleled opportunity for exceptional early-career scholars to dedicate a full year to a high-impact research project focused on Learning Analytics and its role in personalized educational pathways.

Research Focus: We are seeking proposals that leverage large-scale datasets (e.g., State Longitudinal Data Systems/SLDS, major university LMS data) to:

  1. Identify predictive indicators for student disengagement in blended learning environments.
  2. Evaluate the causal impact of specific adaptive learning technologies on achievement gaps.
  3. Develop and test ethical frameworks for the deployment of AI in classroom assessment.

Fellowship Stipend and Duration: The fellowship provides a competitive, non-residential $75,000 stipend for a 12-month period, plus an additional $5,000 allowance for research expenses (e.g., data access fees, travel to dissemination conferences).

Key Benefits:

  1. Mentorship: Fellows are paired with a senior IEF Scholar and a member of the National Academy of Education (NAEd) for intensive research guidance and career development.
  2. Dissemination: Guaranteed presentation slot at the annual IEF Education Policy Summit and full support for publication in a top-tier peer-reviewed journal.

Eligibility: Applicants must have received their Ph.D. or Ed.D. within the last four years (as of the application deadline) and must not hold a tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the time of application.

Commitment: Fellows are expected to focus solely on their proposed research project and engage actively in the IEF's monthly virtual seminars and professional development workshops.
