Award Overview: The Green Future Scholars Program is a highly competitive, full-tuition merit scholarship awarded annually to ten incoming undergraduate freshmen demonstrating exceptional academic achievement and a passionate commitment to Environmental Engineering or a related Earth Science field.
What the Scholarship Covers: The award is equivalent to 100% of standard tuition and mandatory fees for all four years of study (eight semesters), contingent upon the recipient maintaining satisfactory academic progress (minimum 3.5 GPA).
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a graduating high school senior or equivalent.
- Must have an unweighted high school GPA of 3.8 or higher.
- Must demonstrate leadership in environmental or community service initiatives.
- Must apply and be accepted into the university's Environmental Engineering or Sustainable Systems major.
Beyond Financial Aid: Scholars benefit from dedicated mentorship with senior faculty, a guaranteed research stipend for a summer project between their junior and senior years, and automatic enrollment in the university's Honors College.
Application Components: Interested students must submit:
- The standard university application.
- An additional 500-word essay detailing their vision for solving a pressing global environmental challenge.
- Two letters of recommendation, with at least one from a STEM-focused teacher.
