The Green Future Scholars Program: Full-Tuition Merit Scholarship

Award Overview: The Green Future Scholars Program is a highly competitive, full-tuition merit scholarship awarded annually to ten incoming undergraduate freshmen demonstrating exceptional academic achievement and a passionate commitment to Environmental Engineering or a related Earth Science field.


What the Scholarship Covers: The award is equivalent to 100% of standard tuition and mandatory fees for all four years of study (eight semesters), contingent upon the recipient maintaining satisfactory academic progress (minimum 3.5 GPA).


Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Must be a graduating high school senior or equivalent.
  2. Must have an unweighted high school GPA of 3.8 or higher.
  3. Must demonstrate leadership in environmental or community service initiatives.
  4. Must apply and be accepted into the university's Environmental Engineering or Sustainable Systems major.


Beyond Financial Aid: Scholars benefit from dedicated mentorship with senior faculty, a guaranteed research stipend for a summer project between their junior and senior years, and automatic enrollment in the university's Honors College.


Application Components: Interested students must submit:

  1. The standard university application.
  2. An additional 500-word essay detailing their vision for solving a pressing global environmental challenge.
  3. Two letters of recommendation, with at least one from a STEM-focused teacher.


Mission: This scholarship is designed to cultivate the next generation of engineers who will innovate sustainable solutions in water management, clean energy, and pollution control.
