Anchorage Museum

The Anchorage Museum is the largest museum in Alaska, offering a wide-ranging look into Alaska’s past, present, and environment through art, history, culture, and science. It showcases a huge collection of more than 27,000 objects: from ethnographic artifacts from all Alaska Native cultures to historical items from the Russian-American period, and modern and historical art depicting life, land, and nature in the North. The museum also combines science and culture: it features a hands-on “Discovery Center” for children and families, a planetarium, photographic archives, galleries of contemporary and historical Alaskan art, and rotating exhibits about natural history, Indigenous cultures, and more.

The museum’s mission is to connect Alaska with the world through art, history, and science — giving visitors a deep and multifaceted understanding of what makes Alaska unique.

Location

The museum is located at 625 C Street, Anchorage, Alaska 99501, USA — right in downtown Anchorage. This central location makes it easy to reach from nearby hotels, shops, and restaurants.
