Main rivers are Tista, Burail. Kaunia has 6 Unions (Haragach, Sharai, Kursha, Shahidbag, Balapara, Modhupur), 89 Mauzas/Mahallas, and 78 villages. Kaunia (Main Town) consists of three mouzas (Harishwar, Nizpara and). It has an area of 6.49 kmē. The town has a population of 11125; 52.5% male and 49.5% female. The density of population is per kmē 1714.
